性質描述:  無色片狀結晶。熔點52.2℃,沸點254℃,128-133℃(3.37kPa),123-124℃(0.67kPa),相對密度1.22。溶于熱水,苯和石油醚,易溶于乙醇、乙醚和甲苯。能隨水蒸氣揮發,置空氣中或見光顏色變紅。有強烈糞便氣味,高度稀釋的溶液,可以作為香料使用。

     可廣泛用于茉莉、紫丁香、橙花、梔子、忍冬、荷花、水仙、依蘭、草蘭、白蘭等花香型香精。也常與甲基吲哚共用來擬配人造靈貓香,極微量可用于巧克力、懸鉤子、草莓、苦橙、咖啡、堅果、乳酪、葡萄及果香復方等香精中。

      GB 2760 規定為允許使用的食用香料。主要用以配制干酪、柑橘、咖啡、堅果、葡萄、草莓、樹莓、巧克力、什錦水果、茉莉及百合等香精。
